The Tashkent telegraph-telephone exchange
was organized in 1987 on the basis of two enterprises:
the Tashkent central telegraph, founded in 1894,
and
the Tashkent inter-city telephone exchange, founded in 1935.

In 2000, in line with a decree UP-2647 of the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan of June 28, 2000 "On measures to improve the telecommunications management ", a resolution № 253 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan of June 30 2000 "On issues of organizing the activity of the "Uzbektelekom" company", was transformed to the "Tashkent telegraph-telephone station" open join-stock company. In line with a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers №488 of December 27, 2001 and in line with a resolution № 358 of the "Uzbektelekom" joint-stock company of December 29 2001, the open joint -stock company was reorganized into a branch of the "TOSHTTS" – the Tashkent telegraph-telephone station – of the "Uzbektelekom" joint-stock company.
